Voters in Santa Clara, Calif., approved a bill to help build a $937 million stadium for the San Francisco 49ers. Some Santa Clara residents are opposed to the idea because they say it is fiscally irresponsible. San Francisco, however, has not given up hope in keeping the team within city limits and plans to move ahead with the development of a new stadium as part of the Hunters Point Shipyard redevelopment project.
