The National Center for Technology Innovation has named four teams of researchers and developers as this year's winners of its contest to promote new assistive technology to improve education, particularly for students with special needs. A software program to improve the communication skills of students with autism using Apple's iPad and an interactive storybook project for kindergarten students who cannot hear are among the winners, who will each receive a $20,000 grant to help facilitate their projects.
