The FCC has signed off on AT&T's $2.35 billion acquisition of wireless licenses that Verizon Wireless shed as part of its Alltel acquisition. The agency said it saw no reason to hold up the sale on antitrust grounds and praised AT&T's expressed plans for the systems. AT&T said it will also invest more money in Illinois' cell network after the state's passage of telecom-reform legislation.
