Best Buy's customer base is overwhelmingly male, a situation the consumer-electronics chain hopes to reverse as part of an ongoing effort to compete against competitors Wal-Mart and Amazon.com. The company's mall-based mobile-gadget stores are growing in popularity among women shoppers, coveted customers when it comes to mobile devices. The company says it's getting new ideas for appealing to female consumers from forums it created that bring together female employees and customers around the country.
