The Persian Gulf states have the entrepreneurial spirit in abundance, but they will need Western funding and know-how to make the most of their potential, says Kuwaiti financier Fatma Al-Bader. Young business leaders in such places as Oman, Al Qatar and Saudi Arabia are generating new business ideas that rival anything the West is producing, she adds, but often lack the financing and business tools to turn bright ideas into thriving companies.
