Brazil's gross domestic product jumped 9% in the first quarter compared with the same period last year, marking the country's fastest expansion in more than a decade. Brazil's currency, the real, gained 0.97% against the U.S. dollar, and the Bovespa equity index was up 1.1% at the close of trading Tuesday, after losing 14% during the past two months.
