A revised Elementary and Secondary Education Act should include provisions to ensure that teachers are prepared to teach students with learning disabilities, according to Lynda J. Katz, the president of Landmark College, which serves high-potential students with learning difficulties. Katz supports applying common-core standards to students with disabilities but urges policymakers to support students in meeting these benchmarks by mandating early intervention as well as supporting effective teaching.
