Clearwater High School in Florida plans to provide its 2,100 students with e-readers instead of textbooks next school year -- a possible first -- and is in negotiations to have Amazon Kindle provide the devices. The school is prepared to spend $600,000 to purchase the devices, and officials say it's too soon to calculate the cost savings from not having to buy textbooks. Officials say they envision an insurance program for parents in case students damage the devices.
