Panera plans to expand its nonprofit pay-what-you-want cafe concept to new markets after seeing success with the first location, opened a month ago in Clayton, Mo. "I guess I would say it's performing better than we even might have hoped in our cynical moments, and it's living up to our best sense of humanity," said Chairman Ronald Shaich.
