A preliminary legal settlement says a state-funded therapy center in Los Angeles must continue to provide an autism therapy deemed effective by parents. A group of families had sued the Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center after it stopped providing therapy called "DIR" -- which stands for Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship -- after a state law took effect that banned "experimental treatments." The therapy is the basis for Floortime, which has been used for many years with little supporting research.
