Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Thursday that the federal government has no agreed-upon plan to raise the $500 billion needed to fund the multi-year transportation infrastructure package proposed by Rep. James Oberstar, D-Mich. "We need creative, innovative thinking, rather than just thinking about the Highway Trust Fund," LaHood said. One plan that seems to be emerging includes more emphasis on Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grants as well as an "infrastructure bank focused on 'significant' multimodal projects."
