Lockheed Martin says it is partnering with Alaska's state-owned Alaska Aerospace Corp. to pursue a contract with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency valued at about $600 million per year to maintain and improve the country's ground-based missile defense system. Boeing won an earlier contract to maintain the system, but the Missile Defense Agency amended the draft request for proposals in May for a "re-compete."
