President Barack Obama's controversial plan to replace NASA's moon missions with the more ambitious goal of landing humans on an asteroid by 2025 has some major hurdles. Some of the biggest reasons why the effort won't be as easy as depicted in movies like "Armageddon" are that astronauts can't just hop on a space shuttle to get into deep space; the trip would take a long time -- at least five to six months; humans would not be able to walk or drive on an asteroid; and the politics between now and 2025 could easily turn NASA in another direction.
