A new program at Florida's Cocoa Beach is aimed at introducing surfing as a sport in the Special Olympics. A team of eight athletes with intellectual disabilities -- who are ages 18 to 43 -- is part of the program, which is being sponsored by Special Olympics Florida and a local surf shop. "It's a learning process right now. It could just stay in Brevard County, or it could take off in pretty short order," the president of Special Olympics Florida said. "But I'm excited. There's no reason in the world why we shouldn't be doing it here in Florida."
