Qualcomm has debuted its first dual-core processor for smartphones, a Snapdragon chipset upgrade that runs at speeds up to 1.2 GHz, can handle HD video up to 1080p and supports larger-screen resolutions. Intel also announced its own dual-core plans, saying it will release an Atom-based processor for tablets and ultrathin netbook devices that are variations of the chip maker's Moorestown package it released last month.
