Retailers are embracing the opportunity to reach shoppers with targeted ads delivered via smartphones, anxious to replace unpopular online pop-up ads with personalized messages touting online and in-store promotions, according to research from NRF's Shop.org. "This could range from making coupons available on them to allowing customers to look up product information such as ratings or reviews on a specific product," said Shop.org's Scott Silverman.
