Washington pilots Bruce Hilyer and Geo Levin embarked on a cross-country journey in an antique biplane. Hilyer and Levin flew a restored Beechcraft Staggerwing to Florida to watch the final launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis, before selling the plane to a Brazilian buyer. Hilyer purchased the 1937 Staggerwing, built entirely of wood except for metal around the fuselage, in 1998 and spent years restoring the plane with Levin.
