China is on its way to becoming the "aviation nation of this century," and incumbent manufacturers can benefit by pursuing opportunities in the Chinese aviation market, said Tom Enders, president and CEO of European aircraft builder Airbus. Beijing launched its C919 last year to compete with the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 narrow-body families, and the development of a wide-body Chinese jet is expected to eventually follow.
