Amazon has debuted the newest version of the Kindle DX e-reader, immediately cutting the price from $489 to $379. The first version of the DX launched nine months before Apple's iPad and was designed to offer consumers a larger screen for reading documents, newspapers and magazines. The DX hasn't soared in popularity with periodical publishers, who are more focused on tailoring their publications and advertisements to mobile devices and tablets such as the iPad.
