Athletes with physical and visual disabilities competed in events this week as part of the National Junior Disability Championships, held in the Chicago area this year. Swimming, archery, track and field and basketball were among the events, which serve as qualifiers for the U.S. Paralympic team. "The benefits from the games are immense: self-esteem, the camaraderie, the friendship," NJDC's executive director said.
