Budget cuts are eliminating already diluted foreign language programs at many schools across the country, writes Claus von Zastrow, executive director of the Learning First Alliance. In this blog post, Von Zastrow argues for the "whole hog" approach, where foreign language is an educational priority taught through immersion programs or other intensive instruction instead of the "anemic" offerings provided at many schools. "We have to make the case for much more and much better instruction, even in these dark days of budget cuts," he writes.
