Researchers found that Type 2 diabetes patients with coronary artery disease whose blood pressure level was maintained below 130 did not experience more strokes or heart attacks but were more likely to die compared with patients whose blood pressure was between 130 and 140. The results suggest that "lowering blood pressure intensively does not provide any benefit over and above usual blood pressure reduction," the lead researcher said.
