Companies should implement a "48-hour rule," in which new ideas are adopted or rejected within two days of being proposed, says Lauren Dixon, CEO of Dixon-Schwabl. A deadline forces bosses and workers alike to stay focused and ask the questions needed to decide whether a new idea is worth taking forward. "Employees will come to you more often with big ideas if they get instant gratification and results," Dixon says.
