A judge in Calvert County, Md., decided that a divorcing couple will share joint custody of their dog. Under Maryland law, family pets are to be sold if the divorcing couple cannot decide on who gets to keep them, and proceeds from the sale are divided between the parties. "It was very clear that both of them love this dog equally," said the judge. "The only fair thing to do was to give each one an equal chance to share in the love of the dog."
