Nokia has sold its wireless-modem-hardware business to Renesas for $200 million in a deal that provides the California semiconductor company with Nokia's GSM, HSPA and LTE modem technologies, some patents and about 1,100 researchers. Nokia will retaiin an interest in the assets and team up with Renesas on researching HSPA+ and LTE technologies. Also, Nokia's head of mobile solutions insisted that the company was "determined to win back supporters" for its Symbian operating system.
