Engine maker Pratt & Whitney believes growing demand for cargo and passenger traffic bodes well for the aerospace industry, despite shrinking defense budgets around the world. Airbus is expected to make a final decision soon on re-engineering its narrow-body fleet, and Pratt believes it is well-positioned to compete for the new geared turbofan engine, according to President Dave Hess.
