Nearly 24% of the North American fleet of railcars remain idled, according to the Association of American Railroads. But the industry is pulling railcars out of storage, slowly but surely. Railroads, lessors and shippers together retrieved 3,064 cars from storage in June. More than 365,000 cars in the fleet have been idle for at least 60 days.
