A two-month study compared four weight-loss programs for obese or overweight women to determine whether they increase the risk of vitamin and mineral deficiencies. All the programs helped the women cut their average daily intake from 2,000 to 1,500 calories by the end of the study, but the Zone diet proved to be the only one that did not diminish the intake levels of vitamin and minerals in the women.
