Nearly 40% of women who had experienced preterm birth weren't informed by their doctors of an increased risk for having another early delivery, and more than two-thirds of pregnant women surveyed didn't know the correct definition of preterm birth, according to a U.S. survey. Talking to doctors "about preterm birth should take place early enough so the mom-to-be can address any modifiable risk factors, and treat any health conditions that may put her or her baby at increased risk," one of the researchers said.
