Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, attempted to delay the passage of legislation that would reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program for five years before the bill cleared the House last week. The lawmaker sought to have the bill returned to the House Financial Services Committee to scrap a provision that would allocate $250 million for responding to consumer requests each year, a move that drew ire from Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., the committee chairman. The motion was voted down, 191-229.
