New York state passed a "Dining with Dogs" law easing outdoor dining restrictions on people with pets, and other states have done the same.
Owners who want to pamper their pets can take them to the Athenaeum, a pet-friendly hotel in London. The amenities include high-fashion clothing, travel rugs and beds for the rooms, and maps for walking routes.
More animal lovers are now treating their pets as part of the family, and with this attitude comes the increasing trend of "integrating pet-friendly design into [the] home ... for a more serene environment" for pets and people. One example: a kitchen island with alcoves for pet food dishes. Keeping pets happy might prevent unwanted behaviors.
