Stephanie and John Myers, the parents of a Toronto child who has Down syndrome, say early intervention, therapy and a specialized school have helped their 2-year-old daughter meet many of the same milestones in speech and motor skills as peers without the disability. "You need to start things early in order to give them a head start as early as possible," said Stephanie Myers, who is a nurse.
