Unilever says 75% of its paper and packaging will be from sustainably managed forest or recycled materials by 2015, and 100% will be from those sources by 2020. The company says 62% of its current paper and packaging is sustainably sourced.
Nestlé is set to build factories in Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique, and will expand existing factories in Africa. Renowned chocolate maker Jacques Torres offered a tour of his New York City factory, where chocolate is created from beans purchased all over the world. The factory has a walk-in oven, movie theater popcorn popper and a machine once used to smooth lipsticks, that now refines peanut butter and marzipan.
