Environment Canada has confirmed that it is working to add the chemical bisphenol A to its list of toxic and dangerous substances. The Canadian government has banned the sale of baby bottles that contain BPA since 2008 and has promised to label the chemical as a toxic substance because of its effects on human hormone levels. The American Chemistry Council, however, warned that banning BPA is not warranted "based on the best available data and scientific knowledge," said Steven Hentges, an ACC executive director.
