Retailers are finding that drastic price cuts aren't resulting in rising traffic and sales, The Associated Press reports. Wal-Mart's spring announcement that it would cut prices on 22 food items failed to spur shoppers to spend on additional items. Merchants across the board are seeing similar results from their deep-discounting efforts, as consumers continue to keep a careful watch on spending and avoid using their credit cards.
