For each hour between the time patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction call for an ambulance and the time they are treated, patients have a 10% higher chance of dying from the heart attack, Danish researchers found. "Our message is we should focus on all health care system delays, which often starts with the call for the ambulance," a study author said.
