Suppressing violent play among boys might actually harm them, some educators and experts say. "When you try to ignore it, it doesn't go away. And when you try to oppress it, it comes out in sneaky ways," one teacher said. Some say that female teachers are more likely to intervene into aggressive play by boys and that the development of rules for aggressive play is needed to make it less harmful.
