BP should emulate the modifications ExxonMobil made to its safety culture after the Valdez oil spill 21 years ago, analysts said. The incident forced Exxon to conduct a "top-to-bottom review" of activities, which yielded a safety system that encompasses the company's activities, said CEO Rex Tillerson. "If [BP officials] want to instill confidence that they are fit ... they need to go down that same road," said Howard Wheeldon, an analyst with BGC Partners.
