Port Authority police detained a JetBlue flight attendant who reportedly had an altercation with a passenger, then stormed off the plane using the emergency exit slide shortly after landing at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Steven Slater was arrested at his home in Queens and charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. Sources said Slater had confronted a passenger who refused to remain seated after landing. Slater reportedly cursed at the passenger over the plane's public-address system, then activated the emergency slide, walked to his car and drove home. "At no time was the security or safety of our customers or crew members at risk," JetBlue said in a statement, but one source said the airline took more than 20 minutes to notify Port Authority police of the incident.
