The HHS on Friday launched a five-year demonstration program that will expand Medicare inpatient reimbursements to include up to 20 new rural community hospitals, with the 10 already on board getting a bump in funding. To qualify for the program, hospitals must have a maximum of 50 beds and be located in any of the 20 states with the lowest population density, among other requirements.
