A National Board Certified Teacher criticizes the Department of Education for its proposal to end support for the National Writing Project -- a professional-development program designed to improve teaching, writing and learning. In this blog post, Mary Tedrow, a high-school English teacher and co-director of the Northern Virginia Writing Project, argues that the National Writing Project has a proven track record and that the federal government should fund it "to provide much needed support for struggling learners."
