The oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico has reignited calls for increasing the use of renewable-energy sources such as solar, wind power, wave motion and geothermal, writes Seth Doane. However, to give renewable energy a fair opportunity, U.S. lawmakers should put into place a sweeping climate-and-energy bill that would impose emissions curbs on coal-fired power plants, said Fred Krupp of the Environmental Defense Fund.
