Railroads logged their highest traffic for 2010 in the week that ended July 31, according to the Association of American Railroads. Carloads numbered 300,292 during the week, up 9.4% versus the year-ago week. Increasing carloads of bulk materials and equipment and intermodal shipments boosted results, but traffic is still more than 10% less than the comparable 2008 level.
