Derrick Rose, a star player for the Chicago Bulls, has received a custom Skittles machine after he publicized his affection for sweets. He is the first celebrity to receive such a machine, which has his name and a motion-activated message.
A ruling against using genetically modified seeds for sugar beets has prompted concerns that there won't be enough conventional seeds to plant in 2011. "There has been no incentive, no market, no demand for conventional seed since 2008," said Duane Grant, chairman of the board of a company responsible for roughly 20% of beet sugar in the U.S.
