The Senate has confirmed Elena Kagan as the 112th Supreme Court justice by a vote of 63-37, with a smattering of Republicans joining most Democrats in support of her nomination. Kagan's appointment marks the first time in U.S. history that three women have sat together on the Supreme Court. "She earned her place at the top of the legal profession. No one gave it to her. She earned it," said Sen. Patrick J. Leahy, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
