Shareholders will vote Sept. 17 on plans to merge United Airlines and Continental Airlines to form the world's largest carrier. The date was announced on Monday, even as 49 disgruntled passengers pressed ahead with their lawsuit seeking to block the merger. As part of the suit, the CEOs of both airlines will give depositions later this month. "We believe this suit has no merit, and we will vigorously defend what we strongly believe to be a transaction that is in the best interests of Continental, its shareholders and the flying public," says a Continental spokeswoman.
