Micaela Birmingham, who started a nearly $1 million business about a year ago selling sun shades for baby strollers, runs her entire operation using Google Apps, the free applications offered by the search behemoth. Google says about 3,000 businesses a day sign up for its suites of applications, which can replace traditional software for tasks such as e-mail, word processing and website building. But some say security and customer service are concerns.
