The future of South Carolina's online charter schools is being jeopardized by the state's school-funding formula, some officials say. The state's charter schools -- including virtual schools -- receive only state and federal funding, while traditional schools receive 45% of their funding from local sources. With funding for education having been reduced over the past two years, officials say, the cuts have hurt online schools and created a situation that is not sustainable.
