Emomali Rahmon, the president of Tajikistan, is calling on parents in his country to bring back home their children enrolled in religious schools in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iran and Pakistan. Rahmon expressed concern that pupils in religious schools abroad are "becoming terrorists and extremists." One estimate says 2,000 Tajik students attend foreign religious schools, although others have higher estimates.
