As much as $11.8 billion would be needed to develop an in-state natural gas pipeline capable of transporting 500 million cubic feet of natural gas from Alaska's Prudhoe Bay to the Anchorage area, said a task force. State legislators formed the task force to assess the project as an alternative to a pipeline project that would export 4.5 billion cubic feet each day from Prudhoe Bay to North American markets.
